NMC Specialty Hospital, Al Ain conducted two sessions on Oral and Hand Hygiene at Al Ain Juniors School, Al Manaseer on 13th November, 2013 which saw participation from over 200 in the interactive and educative workshop.
The Oral Hygiene workshop was conducted by Dr. Ramina Mathew, Pediatric Dentist. There were demonstrations and video presentations on brushing techniques. At Al Ain Juniors School, a ‘Best Smile’ Competition was also conducted to encourage kids to keep their teeth healthy and cavity free. The winners were awarded with certificates!
The Hand Hygiene Workshop was conducted by Dr. Somansu Basu, Sr. Janice and Sr. Rajni. Though kids think they’ve washed their hands, many a times they just hold it under running water for a few seconds which doesn’t cleanse their hands properly. Therefore, we conducted hand washing demos to teach kids how they should wash their hands and the importance of doing so.
To make the demos more fun and engaging for kids, we also gave goody bags to the kids at Al Ain Juniors School who followed the steps of washing their hands as shown in the demo.
These health awareness initiatives were much appreciated by the schools and the parents. We enjoy undertaking such initiatives and workshops, especially for kids as it helps them start the journey to health and happiness right from an early age.
