1 in every 10 women suffers from breast cancer annually and it is amongst the most common types of cancers in the UAE1. Surprised? This alarming statistic does surprise most of us, though it shouldn’t. Self-awareness is extremely important in order to be healthy and especially so in the case of breast cancer. 96% of women who have been diagnosed early on, can be cancer-free in 5 years2! Awareness helps greatly with an early diagnosis which in turn can help combat the diseases so you can lead a healthy life.
It is with this aim of spreading awareness and educating more and more women regarding the early warning signs, self-detection, treatment and battling the stigma against Breast Cancer; that NMC Healthcare conducted a Breast Cancer Awareness lecture at Al Manahal Private School for the Staff and Parents on 30th October, 2013.
The session was conducted by Dr. Brinda (Specialist Gynaecologist & Obstetrician), Dr Pranitha (Nursing Administrator) and Ms. Carol Gonzales (Nurse and Cancer Coordinator) at NMC Specialty Hospital, Al Ain. Over 50 staff members and parents actively took part in the workshop.
It is our aim to help people lead live a happy, healthy life through such seminars and awareness workshops that contribute to the betterment of society.
